LAGOS, NIGERIA — January 26, 2026 — Yivera Co, a global music technology and digital distribution company dedicated to empowering independent artists and rights holders, today announced the appointment of Dr Wilson Joel, popularly known as “musicmagnate,” to its Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director, effective December 8, 2025.
Dr. Joel is a Nigerian-born, United States–based media entrepreneur, audio professional, and music business leader with over two decades of international professional experience. His appointment marks a strategic step towards strengthening Yivera’s governance, global outlook, and industry leadership as it prepares to launch its version 2.0.
A Visionary Leader for a Global Platform
Dr. Wilson Joel is internationally recognised as a “person of extraordinary ability”, a distinction underscored by his membership in the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs®) and his long-standing role as a senior member of the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO). He is widely respected for his creative and executive leadership, most notably serving for nine years as music director of House on the Rock and The Experience Lagos—widely regarded as the largest gospel concert in the world.
In his role as Non-Executive Director, Dr. Joel will:
- Provide strategic guidance and independent oversight to Yivera’s management team
- Participate actively in Board deliberations and governance processes
- Ensure the Company operates in line with international legal, ethical, and compliance standards
- Contribute objective judgment on matters of strategy, performance, and resource allocation
- Support Yivera’s growth through his global network, influence, and industry expertise

A long-standing advocate for the elimination of exploitative practices in the music industry, Dr. Joel’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and creator empowerment aligns closely with Yivera’s mission to build equitable, creator-first digital infrastructure—particularly for African artists navigating the global music economy.

Dr. Joel’s portfolio spans music production, film scoring, live concert direction, and cultural initiatives. He has contributed to major Nollywood productions including ‘Tango with Me’ and ‘Hakkunde’, and was commissioned to produce the ‘Nigerian National Anthem’ for ‘EbonyLife Television’, reflecting his commitment to cultural preservation and nation-building.
